چکیده

The MAGIC telescope uses a 300 MHz FADC system to sample the shaped PMT signals produced by the captured Cherenkov photons of air showers. Different algorithms to reconstruct the signal from the read-out samples (extractors) have been developed and are described and compared. Criteria based on the obtained charge and time resolution/bias are defined and used to judge the different extractors, by

FADC Pulse Reconstruction Using a Digital Filter for the MAGIC Telescope

Presently, the MAGIC telescope uses a 300 MHz FADC system to sample the transmitted and shaped signals from the captured Cherenkov light of air showers. We describe a method of Digital Filtering of the FADC samples to extract the charge and the arrival time of the signal: Since the pulse shape is dominated by the electronic pulse shaper, a numerical fit can be applied to the FADC samples taking...

Technical Performance of the MAGIC Telescopes

The MAGIC-I telescope is the largest single-dish Imaging Atmospheric Cherenkov telescope in the world. A second telescope, MAGIC-II, will operate in coincidence with MAGIC-I in stereoscopic mode. MAGIC-II is a clone of MAGIC-I, but with a number of significant improvements, namely a highly pixelized camera with a wider trigger area, improved optical analog signal transmission and a 2-4 GSps fas...

Monitoring of the radio galaxy M87 with the MAGIC Telescope

From January until April 2008 the MAGIC Telescope has been monitoring the radio galaxy M87 during several nights. A significant and variable signal has been detected. Following an agreement between the HESS/MAGIC/VERITAS Cherenkov Telescopes, additional observations have been triggered. We will give a short overview of the results from the campaign in January and February.

MARS, the MAGIC Analysis and Reconstruction Software

With the commissioning of the second MAGIC gamma-ray Cherenkov telescope situated close to MAGIC-I, the standard analysis package of the MAGIC collaboration, MARS, has been upgraded in order to perform the stereoscopic reconstruction of the detected atmospheric showers. MARS is a ROOT-based code written in C++, which includes all the necessary algorithms to transform the raw data recorded by th...

A Flexible High Demand Storage System for MAGIC-I and MAGIC-II using GFS

MAGIC is currently the Imaging Cherenkov Telescope with the worldwide largest reflector currently in operation. The initially achieved low trigger threshold of 60 GeV has been further reduced by means of a novel trigger that allows the telescope to record gamma ray showers down to 25 GeV. The high trigger rate combined with the 2 GHz signal sampling rate results in large data volumes that can r...
